show Abstracthide AbstractThe aim of the study was to sequence the genomes of selected litter decomposers from Agaricales, representing the Agaricoid, Marasmioid and Tricholomatoid clades. The comparison of those genomes with other published genomes of mushroom forming fungi aims to: a) to reveal the strategies involved in the decomposition of organic matter and particularly of the plant cell wall, b) to understand the differences in the strategies used between litter and wood decomposers, c) shed light into the evolutionary processes that have shaped those strategies as seen in extant members of Agaricales.
